A Little Bit of Pink History

I received a very special gift from my mom on Sunday this week. She gave me two very special items for our baby girl.

This is a pink and white sweater with quite a history. My Mama (dads mom) bought this sweater for my mom about 31 years ago when she was pregnant with my brother TJ. Little did they know she was having a little boy who wouldn't wear pink. So my mom saved this sweater hoping one day she may have a little girl to wear it. And so she did, only I came along in May and it was too hot to wear a sweater so I never got to wear it either. Fast forward 28 years and here we are today. Mia is due December 31st and she has a very special sweater to wear that's been with her family for the past 31 years.

This picture is a very tiny pink dress with tiny flowers down the center of it. My mom saw this dress the day before she had me and decided she wanted it for me to wear home from the hospital. Only she went into labor with me the next day before she could get back to the store and buy it. Daddy to the rescue. She sent my dad back to the store to buy the dress. He got the right one and I came home in this dress a couple of days later. It is
my hope that even though it may be cold Mia can wear it home from the hospital too with her pink sweater.

My mom may never know how much these two very small pieces of fabric mean to me. I'm so glad she kept them through all the years for my little girl. Thanks mom I love you!

Some pain and a great happiness

Some Pain:
I woke up this morning with an awful pain in the right side of my abdomen. It lasted for 2 solid hours and hurt so bad I couldn't sit still, stand up, or lay down. I was in a mess. So it finally went away at about 6am. I called the doctor and they told me to come in so they could check me out. Mom and I sat in the doctors office for 4 hours to be told they didn't find anything. Sometimes you just have pain and they don't know why or so they said. I'm feeling better now just really tired from the lack of sleep last night.

A Great Happiness:
While at the doctor they decided to do an ultrasound to check my kidneys, gal bladder, and the baby. The lady searched all around and looked at everything. Then our precious little one appeared on the screen. She didn't do a detailed screen of the baby because I'll have another ultrasound on August 12th but she did take a quick peek long enough to tell us.................We are having a GIRL! A precious baby girl to be named Mia Abigail. We are so blessed with this little miracle and we can't wait to meet her. I'll post her most recent profile picture later tonight.

Update

Our appointment for today to have a sonogram to see if we could tell if we are having a boy or a girl was canceled. At this time it has not been rescheduled. I'll post as soon as I know something.

15 weeks

Today I am 15 weeks so I thought I'd post a little update. I'm feeling much better all the time now. I have started to gain back some of the 12 pounds I lost over the last 9 weeks. I went to Babies-R-Us with my mom on Saturday just to look. They have so many cute things. I can't wait to know if it's a boy or a girl so we can start shopping. I am also already learning babies are expensive. I picked out the baby furniture we want for the nursery and lets just say I didn't know cribs could cost that much LOL! It will all be worth every penny when this little one finally arrives.

Quick side note. Thanks to my moms wonderful friend Mrs. Yvonne Johnson we are having an ultrasound done on Monday 07/14. We are going to try to take a peek and see if we can tell what gender the baby is. Keep your fingers crossed for us that the baby wants us to know.

Keep your eyes open for an update on Monday, we hope to have good news!

14 Weeks

I am 14 weeks today! This may not seem like such a milestone to anyone but me, but trust me it is! The past 7-8 weeks have been very hard on me and Mitch (and my mom who has been more than any girl could ask for in a soon to be grandma). I have been feeling so poorly Mitch probably feels like he has been confined to a jail taking care of me. He has been the perfect husband getting me whatever I need even if we didn't have it in the house. Taking care of me at all hours of the day and night when I would be so sick I could hardly move. Though I cried, whined, and told him I was dying he never let me forget that it will get better. I am happy to say I think we may have reached that point. The past 2 days I have felt pretty good. I've hardly had any nausea and I have been able to eat pretty regularly. Maybe my second trimester really is going to be the bright spot in my pregnancy. We don't go back to see the Doctor again until July 17th. Until then we sit and wait while our little one grows~
